I love orange

Our sweet friend Kimberly is moving to Germany for a few years, so last night we had a little surprise goodbye party for her. A big thanks to Andreas for delicious food. We had king crab, chantarelle soup and grouse. Dessert was chocolate mousse.

Mini face lift

I've done a litte face lift on our hall and entrance. I was tired of all the black furniture. Mainly because dust is very visable on black. So I painted everything white. The stairs also needed a coat of fresh white. I've made a new rush seat on the little thriftet stool on the left.
What startet the whole thing was this post over at Frøken Paris.

Here's the hall before.

Entrance before

The rest of the hall is the African corner of our home. I've bought the masks and batik in Madagascar. My mom bought the carpenter's tool chest at a garage sale.

Book covers

I've had these two little emroderies lying around in my studio for a while. I redescovered them yesterday when I was trying to do some organizing.
I just added a few scaps and now I have two new book covers. My studio is still a mess though.

Sjokoladebombe (med granater)

60 g bakekakao
1 ½ dl kokende vann
175 g smør (må være mykt)
350 g sukker
4 egg
250 g hvetemel
1 ts bakepulver
½ ts natron
1 dl melk

A birthdayquilt

We're going to a birthdayparty tonight, bringing this gift. I think the birtday boy and girl are busy prepearing for the party so I'll show you whats inside: A disappering 9-patch quilt. I really like this pattern. It's a quick and easy project. The pink and brown flower fabcic from Moda is one of my favourites. I'm very happy to have made my second quilt this autumn using only fabric from my stash.

I quilted this on my Inspira frame + Megaquilter. The quiltdesign is by Jodi Beamish.

Buff

There's no school today, so all three kids are home with me. This morning KJ (10) announced that he intended to sew today. He wanted to make a buff. So I digged through my pile of old clothes and forund one wollen sweather and a t-shirt. He found the "Made in Norway" badge and insisted it would look great. He enjoyed sewing on my serger because he is usually not allowed to touch it.

Blocking

I found the perfect beret blocking device in my kitchen cupboards. My Koziol Babell kake stand.
Soak the beret in water for a few minutes first. Pick the right sized plate, and tie a piece of yarn through the first row of stiches. Leave to dry into the right shape
